Travelled to Gwara gwara, Tororo, Uganda in November 2015 with UK based charity The Safe Foundation and documented their project and took numerous portraits.
I came back a year later to celebrate this welcoming community by producing a photo street art mural at Romo house.
I’ve just come back from the Tororo region of Uganda with the Safe Foundation charity, who were there on a project consisting of a clay oven build, cookery classes by Lia’s Kitchen and business planning sessions. Last year I documented the same project and got a range of photographs printed in Cardiff which I then brought with me on this trip. This large wall is on the outside of the volunteers accommodation called Romo house and was transformed into a gallery of the people from the local community.
This was a real team effort and massive thanks has to go to the staff at Romo house, Mary, Andrew, JoJo, the Safe foundation volunteers, Dicko, Lia, Georgia, Grant [my uk printer] and all the people who helped me to make this a reality – you know who you are.
